As of this post, Cinco de Mayo is but 17 days away, so how about adding a simple and delicious new Margarita to your household bar menu? 

Mango has become one of the most popular fruits in the world, partly because of its significant nutritional value and partly because it’s simply delicious. That makes mango a natural ingredient for cocktails, but its fibrous character makes it a challenge to use as-is, so most mango-flavored cocktails call for bottled mango purees or juices—or a blender.

I use Giffard’s recently launched “Mangue Liqueur” (“You say ‘mango;’ we say ‘mangue’) in this simple Mango Margarita recipe—a delicious and easy way to get your mango-and-tequila fix. It’s also not as sweet a fruit as pineapple or peach, so this cocktail adds a bit of agave or sugarcane syrup to round off the flavor. 

EASY MANGO MARGARITA
1½ oz Casco Viejo Tequila Blanco
1 oz Giffard Mangue Liqueur
¾ oz Freshly squeezed lime juice
¼ oz Agave or simple syrup
3-4 mill cranks of cracked sea salt (a healthy pinch)

Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled two-thirds full of ice. Shake until ice-cold. Strain the mix into a chilled cocktail coupe or small Margarita glass. For a garnish, spear 2-3 cubes of mango fruit, or use a twist of lime zest or a wheel-slice of lime.
