Over the summer, I’ll be rolling out a few drinks that feature cachaça—a unique rum from Brazil, made by distilling juice freshly pressed from sugarcane. This particular cocktail is far from how Brazilians typically enjoy their favorite spirit (more about that soon), as it’s blended here with two very European, herbal liqueurs. The flavor is bittersweet and herbal. Drink it as cold as you can possibly make it.
THE CANEFLOWER
1½ oz Cachaça
¾ oz Aperol or other Italian red aperitivo
¾ oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
Stir all ingredients with ice until cold, strain into chilled glass. Garnish with twist of orange zest. With only 3 oz of fluid before ice melt, it perfectly fits my favorite Nick & Nora glass.
