With summer almost upon us (a boy can dream can’t he?), it’s time for frozen tropical drinks.
DEAD PARROT COLADA
1½ oz Gin
1½ oz Coconut water
½ oz Akvavit
½ oz Blue Curaçao Liqueur
¼ oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
½ oz Fresh lemon juice
½ oz Simple syrup
Blend all ingredients with crushed ice and serve in a Collins glass with a straw.
Garnish with a small stuffed dead parrot that’s passed on, no more, expired and gone to meet ‘is maker, a stiff, bereft of life, resting in peace, pushing up the daisies, off the twig, kicked the bucket, shuffled off ‘is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible. An EX-parrot. And preferably one with lovely plumage—a Norwegian Blue pining for the fjords.
I know, I know. The tail on this particular parrot doesn’t look very realistic, but what would you expect? He’s and EX-parrot, and he doesn’t look like himself. Also, he died at Mardi Gras …
