The Dubliner

As long as you’re stocking up on Irish whiskey for St. Patrick’s Day, consider this easy-to-make variation on the classic Manhattan. Instead of bourbon or rye, use your favorite Irish whiskey, and instead of a full ounce of sweet vermouth, use half-ounces of Grand Marnier or another curaçao and a hearty sweet vermouth. It’s an easy drink to make, and it is delicious.

Classically, this calls for Irish blended whiskey, but if you prefer the stronger flavor of a single pot still or single malt whiskey, go for it! The curaçao and sweet vermouth are up to the balancing act.

THE DUBLINER
2 oz Irish whiskey of choice
½ oz Grand Marnier or other orange curaçao
½ oz Sweet vermouth
1 dash Orange bitters

Stir ingredients with ice, strain into chilled coupe or Martini glass. Express the oils of an orange peel strip over the drink and discard, then garnish with a Luxardo Maraschino cherry or two.
